4/20 - After students submit the bellringer, we will continue taking notes on the class slides. 4/16 - Students will receive a slide show full of their classmates' WWII timeline slides. Students will use these slides to take notes on the most important events of the respective year(s). The notes should be recorded on the document already shared with them ("WWII Timeline Notes" in your Drive). The notes should be short summaries of the slides. Do NOT copy and paste the from the slides. After the events (4 maximum per year), make a note in parentheses as to whether the event relates to the rise/fall of the German empire or the gradual stripping of rights/mass slaughter of Jewish people or other "desirables." You will need this information later.

This is your bellringer again! Find the "Creative Writing" Assignment in your "Shared with Me" folder and move it to your "ENG II" Folder. Then open the "Paragraphs for Editing." We will look at an edited version, study for the quiz, take the quiz, then talk about the creative writing assignment.
8/27 I didn't make a mistake. This is your bellringer! If you have not done so yet, move the copies of "eliminating wordiness notes" and "eliminating wordiness exercises" to your ENG II folder. Next, move the "Idioms, Cliches, and Choosing the Right Word" and "Paragraphs for Editing" to your ENG II folder. Once everything is moved, open both "eliminating wordiness" documents. This is your bellringer again! Find the "Creative Writing" Assignment in your "Shared with Me" folder and move it to your "ENG II" Folder. Then open the "Paragraphs for Editing." We will look at an edited version, study for the quiz, take the quiz, then talk about the creative writing assignment.
8/27 I didn't make a mistake. This is your bellringer! If you have not done so yet, move the copies of "eliminating wordiness notes" and "eliminating wordiness exercises" to your ENG II folder. Next, move the "Idioms, Cliches, and Choosing the Right Word" and "Paragraphs for Editing" to your ENG II folder. Once everything is moved, open both "eliminating wordiness" documents. Use the "notes" page websites to help you complete the "exercises." We will then review those together and begin work on the "Idioms" and "Paragraphs."

3/16 - After the bellringer, we will introduce vocabulary for "Part 2" of Night. We will then review the figurative language exercise from Thursday.
3/13 - Students will take THIS QUIZ. When finished, students will have time to work on the figurative language exercise from yesterday. It will be due Monday at the beginning of class. If we have time, we will look at the vocabulary for Part 2 of Night.
3/12 - No bellringer today. We will finish discussing the PART 1 GR ?s. After that, we will look at the FIgurative Language assignment (due Monday). Students will then work on the figurative language assignment OR the Independent Reading assignment. The IR journal is homework. The figurative language activity will be due Monday.

1. Avoid first-person pronouns (I, me, you, we, our)
2. Use active voice when possible.
3. You may only use direct quotation twice.
4. Do not refer to the name of a web site when using outside info. Also, do not use the author's name unless it is relevant (i.e. they have a title or are well known).
5. Do not use contractions.
6. Cite, cite cite!!!
